Instead of a chocolate option though, we had the apple cinnamon waffles. We ended with dessert (you definitely have to have dessert when you go to a restaurant like Max Brenner).

I could only eat about 1/3, and the rest lasted for 2 more meals too. This was way too rich though, and might be best as a shared dish. I also liked the crispy crumbs sprinkled on top. I liked the creamy sauce and bits of bacon, but picked off the tomatoes. I remembered enjoying the macaroni & cheese when V ordered it previously, so I went with that. The turkey burger looked good – it was quite large and she definitely needed a to-go box. Just because it’s a restaurant specializing in chocolate doesn’t mean that random dishes should have chocolate, when it doesn’t add to the overall enjoyment or taste. Normally I’m a waffle fry fan, but the cocoa powder is just an extraneous detail that doesn’t contribute to the flavor at all. JL ordered the turkey burger, which came with their cocoa sprinkled waffle fries. I thought the bright colors of the garnish were very appealing. Fried fish pieces were covered with heaps of tangy cabbage and piled into corn tortillas. I liked that they were served in a little rack, which kept the shape of the taco and prevented sogginess.

J had the fish tacos, which she was happy with. I decided I’d rather spend time with them than be picky about where we were eating, so I went in with very low expectations. I wasn’t impressed by my previous experiences at Max Brenner but J & JL wanted to meet for dinner there.
